New partnership kicks off to support WA’s natural treasures
WA Parks Foundation, with the support of founding partner Chevron Australia, are aiming to inspire people from all backgrounds to connect with, celebrate, and support parks across Western Australia.
Chevron Australia’s Managing Director Nigel Hearne said the work of the WA Parks Foundation matched the foundation and spirit of Chevron’s values.
“The responsible development of resources to protect and conserve our environment for future generations is key to how we operate at Chevron,” Nigel said.
“Much work is already being done to protect WA’s parks, and by working together we can make an even greater difference to strengthen social and cultural experiences for our community,” he said.
Since its inception in 2016, the WA Parks Foundation has focused on collaboration to deliver projects that connect people back with parks.
Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, Governor of Western Australia and WA Parks Foundation Chair said the Foundation was proud to work with corporate leaders who share their passion for and commitment to WA parks.
“We are working with Chevron Australia on a communications plan to develop community pride in, and connection to, parks,” Her Excellency said.
“This includes exciting signature events connecting families and children with our natural environment, as well as corporate volunteering opportunities to engage employees in conservation activities in our wonderful national parks.”
Helping to foster and create strong ties to WA’s natural assets is a natural extension of Chevron’s long history of environmental stewardship at its natural gas operations; its commitment to upholding the legacy of the late Dr Harry Butler’s AO CBE; and its ongoing conservation-focused community and volunteer programs.
Her Excellency added, “Snorkelling in crystal clear water, weekends down south and camping by the gorges – these are some of the experiences that define us and become highlights for visitors, and so many of them happen in parks.
“We want to help more people enjoy these experiences, more easily and more often.”
