Deloitte Impact Day
Friday 17 November was Deloitte Impact Day. Thirty-three employees volunteered for weed removal in Serpentine National Park and seven volunteers helped in the main picnic area in John Forrest National Park.
Elisa Skillen, (Parks & Visitor Services, Perth Hills District – Mundaring Office, Parks and Wildlife Service) coordinated the day and remarked, “The volunteers did a wonderful job removing hundreds of cottonbush plants in Serpentine National Park and clearing an area of weeds in the picnic area at John Forrest National Park.
“For park staff, the most satisfying aspect of the day was seeing the enthusiasm of the volunteers and the enjoyment they received from their day in the park. Many of the volunteers had never been to either of the national parks and were surprised that the parks were so close to Perth. Hopefully, their experience will inspire them to experience other national parks in the future.”
Impact Day is always a special day on the Deloitte Australia calendar. Held in November each year, thousands around the country down their usual work tools to make a positive contribution. Many employees use the opportunity to roll up their sleeves to perform much needed outdoor tasks for Not-For-Profits and charities. The WA Parks Foundation would like to thank those who contributed to the park projects in Serpentine and John Forrest National Parks.
