Holidaying in our backyard

Swimming with whale sharks, stargazing in the wheatbelt, marvelling at our wildflowers or discovering hidden waterfalls and forgotten gorges are just some of the unique Western Australian experiences that form part of the Wander Out Yonder campaign.
The new intrastate campaign, designed to entice people to get out and explore our Perth city and regional WA, was launched at the start of June following the lifting of most of the Covid-19 regional travel restrictions. It is supported by the State Government through Tourism Western Australia.
The marketing focus is to encourage Western Australians to take a different kind of holiday, enjoy a staycation in Perth or travel to new places, and seek out new experiences across the State.
Western Australians are encouraged to support the campaign by using the hashtag #wanderoutyonder when visiting their favourite destinations around the State.
Meanwhile, WA’s regional tourism industry has been given a boost on the road to recovery – with the State Government allocating a total of $1 million in funding to support over 70 regional events.
The Regional Events Scheme will help develop smaller and emerging events into tourist attractions in country areas. Due to potential future impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, successful funding applicants for the 2020-2021 Scheme have been given the option of holding their event at any time up until December 31, 2021.
