New chair for Bibbulmun Board

Natural resource management professional Kathleen Broderick has been elected the new Chair of the Bibbulmun Track Foundation Board.

Kathleen, who has been on the Board since 2016, has over 30 years’ experience in the education and natural resource management sectors, and has contributed strongly to regional development.

She takes over from Mike Wood who retired from the role in October after 21 years as Chair.

Mike, a WA Parks Ambassador, was instrumental in establishing the Bibbulmun Track Foundation.  His involvement with the track began in the early 1990s when he joined a steering committee to oversee the Building a Better Bibbulmun Track Project, an initiative resulting in the current alignment and the construction of the campsites.

He was also instrumental in establishing the Bibbulmun Track Foundation.

Peter Sharp, Executive Director of DBCA’s Parks and Visitor Services thanked Mike on behalf of the Department. He said that under Mike’s leadership the Foundation had become an outstanding example of a successful community partnership, with the common goal of the protection and enjoyment of a highly valued community asset.
