Event: Echidnas and Roos Hike in Walyunga National Park
A fantastic wildlife-spotting hike with some challenging hills to take you up 200 vertical metres within a 2km section, but with ample opportunities to spot echidnas, kangaroos, and many more animals on the Echidna Trail in Walyunga National Park. This 11km endurance style hike will test your physical fitness, but give back to you with generous views, and amazing scenery
The Hike Collective will take you along the Avon river, to the Syd’s Rapids, a section of the famous Avon Descent race held every year in winter. After this beautiful warm-up section of the trail, head up your first heart-pumping hill for the day’s adventure.
With a combination of beautiful views, national park scenery, abundance of flora and fauna, cultural history, and of course a chance for some wildlife spotting, this hike is a great adventure for the curious (and moderately fit!) hiker.
*Although we have spotted echidnas and kangaroos on this trail before, this is never guaranteed!*
