Feature Event: Happy Campers 101
Gain confidence with camping in the great outdoors with this specially-designed event to provide support all the way for first-time campers. Plus, discover the amazing sights, sounds and experiences that a trail town like Dwellingup and Lane Poole Reserve has to offer. You will also be offered a pre-camp education session at a local camping retailer on the types of equipment available for use and their application. You will camp at the excellent facilities at Baden Powell Campground which is close to the Murray River and has individual campfires at each camping site and a camp kitchen.
Join up to 36 other families or groups for this event and take the camping plunge together, safe in the knowledge that the team from Outdoors WA will be with you the whole time to help if you need it with setting up your tent or lighting your fire, with a demonstration of campfire cooking and making your own damper and billy tea – all while the toasted marshmallows cool! Also enjoy a Family Nature Scavenger Hunt and the chance to build your own bush art masterpiece.
This is your chance to learn from the outdoor experts about hiking and camping opportunities close to Perth, what to take in a hiking daypack, and how to use alternative cooking sources when you are not permitted to light a fire. You will have plenty of time after the event on Sunday to explore what else is on offer at the magnificent Lane Poole Reserve, including the Trees Adventure Lane Poole Park, canoeing and swimming, and Aboriginal cultural experiences with Kaarak Dreaming. A visit to the new Dwellingup Visitor Centre is not to be missed and will help set you up for all the adventures on offer in this amazing region.
