Feature Event: Parks and Bush Tucker in the Swan Valley

Take a Sunday drive through the Swan Valley and discover hidden cultural and park gems you never knew about – or may have forgotten! Make your own itinerary or choose to follow the bush tucker and beyond trail where you can experience as many of these unique sites as you can. Come back again in the future to visit the rest!

As a special event for Spring into Parks, you can enjoy a bush tucker experience as you learn about Aboriginal culture at Walyunga National Park.  Join Dale Tilbrook from the nearby award-winning Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery as she shows you the remnants of Noongar yam gardens that were here long before European settlement.  You will also experience a taste of the fresh seasonal foods harvested by Noongar people in the area for countless generations.

Follow this with a visit to Bells Rapids then learn about amazing bees at the House of Honey.  Discover the Yagan Memorial Park which was created to commemorate the life, death and spirit of the great Noongar leader and warrior, Yagan.

For something different, you can also taste distilled product and nougat made with Australian botanicals.  And don’t forget to visit the amazing Swan Valley Visitor Centre to get the full run down on the outstanding wineries, gourmet delights, wildlife encounters and more on offer in the Swan Valley.
