Swan Canning Riverpark to benefit from revegetation program
Perth’s Swan and Canning river systems will benefit from a major revegetation initiative to improve foreshore conditions.
Under the $3million Swan Canning Riverpark Urban Forest program, State and local government agencies will work together to enhance these natural assets.
The City of Gosnells, the first to access support under this program, will revegetate 10 hectares where the Southern and Canning rivers meet.
Restoration of this area and improving habitat for wildlife will be achieved through $250,000 from the State and $150,000 from the local authority.
The Riverpark, which includes the Swan, Canning, Helena, and Southern rivers, covers more than 7,200 hectares of river reserve and adjoining public land.
