WA Parks Foundation Announces Executive Appointments
Increasing awareness, appreciation of and visits to Western Australia’s national parks will be the focus for two recent appointees to the WA Parks Foundation.
Melanie Wilshin has taken up the newly-created position of General Manager, bringing to the role more than 20 years’ executive management experience in the private and “for purpose” sectors. She has expertise in developing successful strategic community partnerships and implementing major projects at local, national and international levels.

Robin Piesse, appointed to the part-time position of Board Adviser, Strategy and Governance, has held senior leadership roles in government and not-for-profit sectors. She brings broad-based management and specialist marketing and communications skills to the work of the Foundation.

Western Australia’s Governor, the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, who worked with many others to establish the WA Parks Foundation, which she now chairs, announced the appointments.
In a recently agreed three-year partnership, Wesfarmers has generously donated seed funding to support the Foundation, which was launched in 2016 as an independent, non-government, not-for-profit organisation.
“The Foundation’s Board is very appreciative of Wesfarmers’ support and we look forward to strengthening and building on our partnership and delivering tangible benefits to our communities,” Her Excellency said.
“Through a collaborative approach within the public and private sectors and with community support, we are working to deliver projects that celebrate, promote, protect and enhance WA’s many and beautiful national parks.
“The WA Parks Foundation aims to develop people’s love of, pride in and connection to parks, to build and support a network of partners, foster community and corporate engagement with parks and promote philanthropy.”
Wesfarmers Managing Director Richard Goyder AO, said the new partnership with the WA Parks Foundation was important.
“Western Australia has a spectacular network of parks. Assisting an organisation such as WA Parks Foundation protect and enrich these parks will benefit not only our community now, but generations to come,” Mr Goyder said.
New website address and email
WA Parks Foundation has updated their addresses to reflect we are an organisation – moving from a “.com.au” to a “.org.au” prefix. The website is now www.ourwaparks.org.au and our email address is info@ourwaparks.org.au .
