Environmental, Social and Governance Statement

The WA Parks Foundation mission is to connect people to our parks and nature and through collaboration, deliver projects that celebrate, protect, build understanding of, and enrich our parks to increase people’s sense of connection.

Environmental Responsibility:

  • We are committed to the conservation of Western Australia’s national parks and reserves and our State’s extraordinary biodiversity.
  • We strive to minimise our environmental impact by adopting sustainable practices in the way we work.
  • We initiate and engage in educational programs and projects to raise awareness of the importance of our parks, the need to protect them and how people can contribute.

Social Responsibility:

  • We engage with communities, the corporate sector and government to play our part in building a sense of stewardship and shared responsibility for our parks and encourage involvement in our projects and initiatives.
  • We work to ensure that our projects are inclusive and accessible to people of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages, so that everyone can enjoy and appreciate our parks.
  • We recognise the importance of Western Australia’s cultural heritage, seeking and implementing opportunities to increase awareness and understanding.

Governance Responsibility:

  • We maintain transparency in our operations, finances, and decision-making processes.
  • We are accountable to our donors, partners, volunteers, and the broader community. We ensure that our actions align with our mission, and funds are used effectively and responsibly.
  • We are dedicated to the long-term sustainability of our organisation and our mission. Our Board of Directors provides oversight and guidance to ensure that we continue to deliver on our promises.

The WA Parks Foundation recognises that we all have an important role to play in the stewardship of our State’s wonderful national parks and reserves. We believe that by connecting people to nature, we will improve wellbeing, environmental outcomes and help conserve Western Australia’s natural heritage for present and future generations.
