Mount Augustus National Park is in the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia. The Mount is a remote inselberg (meaning island mountain) rising 715m above the surrounding alluvial plain and features rocky creeks, gorges and outcrops which support a variety of vegetation and wildlife.

Mount Augustus is known as Burringurrah to the local Wajarri Aboriginal people and visitors are able to view Aboriginal rock engravings (petroglyphs).

This map shows park access, walk trails, petroglyph sites, picnic and day use facilities. Camping and accommodation are available at the nearby Mount Augustus Tourist Park.

The risks from exposure and dehydration are significant in this area. During the hotter months (at least September – March) these risks are extreme, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C.

Visitors are advised to walk during the cooler parts of the day, protect themselves from the sun, carry sufficient water and always to let someone know where they are going.
