On Wednesday, 25th September 2024, the City of Cockburn invites you to a day dedicated to exploring and enjoying nature at Hammond Park. This event, hosted by the City’s Sustainability and Climate Change team, offers a range of engaging activities for all ages.

Activities:

  • 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Guided Walk
    Join the City’s friendly bush maintenance team for a relaxed morning stroll through Hammond Park. Discover more about the reserve and meet the experts who care for it.
    Ages: All ages
  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Nature Storytime Trek
    This activity combines storytelling with bushwalking. Young explorers aged 2-5 will enjoy stories and sensory experiences that highlight the wonders of nature.
    Ages: 2-5 years
  • 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Boodjar Biddi (Bush Track) Cultural Walk
    Gain insights into Nyungar perspectives on nature and the environment. This cultural walk explores the deep connections between Indigenous people and the land.
    Ages: All ages
  • 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Guided Walk
    Join the City’s Environmental Education Officer for a midday stroll through Frankland Park. Learn about local wildlife and the plants currently in bloom.
    Ages: All ages
  • 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Reptile Awareness
    As the weather warms, snakes become more active. This session will cover local snake species, their behavior, and safety tips. There may even be an opportunity for live interactions with reptiles!
    Ages: 5-12 years
