Discover the Flora of Kings Park
Kings Park is renowned for its breathtaking wildflowers and unique bushland, home to a variety of plant species that bloom spectacularly during the late winter and spring months. This two-hour guided walk invites you to journey along the raised paths through the park’s bushland, where you can witness these stunning plants in their natural habitat.
As you stroll through the bushland, keep an eye out for some of the park’s most iconic wildflowers, including milkmaids, running postmen, and the delicately named fairies, donkeys, and spiders—plants that are as intriguing as their names suggest. Each step along the way reveals the incredible diversity and beauty of Western Australia’s flora, making this walk a must-do for both locals and visitors alike.
A Unique Experience, Every Day
The Wildflowers and Bushland Walk is designed to showcase the best of what Kings Park has to offer, and each walk is a unique experience depending on the flora in bloom at that time. The knowledgeable guides, all volunteers with a deep passion for the park, will share fascinating insights about the plants you encounter, their ecological significance, and the conservation efforts underway to protect these precious species.
Flexible and Accessible
This free walk requires no prior booking, allowing you the flexibility to join on any day that suits you. Simply arrive at Kings Park before 1:00 PM and meet the group at the designated starting point. The walk is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, as the raised paths provide an easy and accessible route through the bushland.
Important Notes
Please be aware that due to unfavourable dry weather conditions earlier in the year, the walk may be relocated to the Western Australian Botanic Garden during August. This alternative route will still offer a rich and rewarding experience, with guides including as much bushland as possible in the tour. The Botanic Garden is a treasure trove of Western Australian plant species, providing a perfect alternative should conditions require a change of scenery.
