Café operator sought for John Forrest National Park
Registrations of interest are sought from individuals and organisations interested in operating a new café within John Forrest National Park.
Forming part of a new park centre, which will be the central point of the visitor hub once the John Forrest National Park improvement project is complete, the café will have an internal dining area of 180 square metres and an alfresco dining area of 150 square metres.
The café’s operator will also have the opportunity to provide dine-in, takeaway and function catering, as well as obtain a liquor licence.
In addition to the new café, the park centre will be home to an interpretation centre and function space that will highlight and interpret the cultural values and heritage sites within the park.
Environment Minister the Hon Reece Whitby MLA said the redevelopment and upgrades underway at John Forrest National Park were creating a world-class, accessible park that will include a broad range of activities available to allow the public to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
“This new cafĂ© presents a fantastic opportunity for an enterprising operator to be part of the transformation of Western Australia’s first national park,” the Minister said.
Interested operators have until August 16th to register their interest.
Just 35 minutes from the centre of Perth, John Forrest offers a natural bushland experience with undulating hills, granite outcrops, jarrah, marri, flooded gums, swamp peppermint and paperbark trees together with seasonal waterfalls and more than 500 varieties of wildflowers.
“Our organisation has taken a keen and contributing interest over several years in the upgrading of this natural jewel in the Perth hills,” said WA Parks Foundation Chair, the Hon Kerry Sanderson AC CVO.
“The Foundation was very pleased to partner with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions to develop the business case for the John Forrest Park Centre and the café element will certainly be very popular with visitors.”
