Upgrades at Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks in the Great Southern

Visitors to two of the Great Southern’s most iconic coastal destinations will soon enjoy improved access, safety and viewing opportunities, with major upgrades set to begin at Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks in William Bay National Park.

At Greens Pool, works will include a new elevated boardwalk, upgraded viewing platforms and improved beach access steps. The back-of-beach boardwalk is being built first to maintain visitor access for as long as possible.

At Elephant Rocks, improvements will focus on making it easier for visitors to reach and enjoy the beach, including extended pathways and new viewing decks.

The upgrades form part of ongoing efforts to enhance visitor experiences, while protecting the outstanding natural values that make William Bay National Park one of Western Australia’s most treasured coastal landscapes.

Work to improve walk and cycle access to the park by moving the Munda Biddi Trail off William Bay Road is also in planning.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is working with the Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation and other key stakeholders on the William Bay National Park Improvement Project. The upgrades planned will build on recent improvements, helping protect the park’s natural beauty while improving visitor experiences.

Elephant Rocks beach is expected to be closed during the construction period, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. Stay up to date via alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au
