Touring the Kimberley in the dry
May to October is the Kimberley’s dry season and the most popular time to visit. Covering nearly 423,000 square kilometres, this vast, ancient and culturally rich region in north west Australia has fewer people per square kilometre than almost anywhere else on earth.
With its vast and complex landscapes, spectacular national parks such as Purnululu, Mitchell River and Danggu Geikke, some of the world’s earliest figurative rock art and a diversity of native fauna, the wilderness experiences on offer are exceptional.

On the Kimberley coast are some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, coral atolls and rugged islands with an amazing variety of marine creatures.
Tourism WA’s official site, Australia’s North West, provides a wealth of information on the adventures and experiences offered for visits to the Kimberley – the Pilbara region, too, with information on areas to explore, what to see and do, places to stay, tours, and a guide to planning visits.
