A special evening at Government House

Western Australia’s historic Government House was an elegant indoor-outdoor setting for a WA Parks Foundation reception hosted by our State Governor, the Honourable Kim Beazley AC and his wife Ms Susie Annus on 14 November 2019.

The evening was to thank Directors, Founding Partners, other supporters and members of the Foundation for their contribution in protecting WA’s precious national parks and conservation areas.

The Governor, who is Patron of the WA Parks Foundation, welcomed guests and thanked them for their support of the Foundation. He spoke about the enormous extent and importance of Western Australia’s conservation estate and the range of current projects taking shape or planned by the Foundation in partnership with government, the corporate sector and the community.

Former WA Governor and founder of the Foundation the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC also spoke about the importance of the projects, as well as celebrating and conserving Western Australia’s national and marine parks for future generations.

The Foundation would like to thank the Governor and Ms Susie Annus for hosting a wonderful event and for their ongoing patronage.

The WA Foundation continues to receive support from its Founding Partners in Wesfarmers, Chevron Australia, Fortescue Metals Group and Woodside Energy.

Lotterywest has provided a significant organisational grant to assist with the operations of the Foundation and BHP has also come on board as a new project partner this year. Bellanhouse, which has merged with HWL Ebsworth, provides pro-bono legal advice, and Deloitte and PwC continue to provide in-kind pro bono support.

The Foundation works closely with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) to develop key projects aiming to protect and enhance WA national parks and encourage visitation.
