Lake Claremont is a Conservation Category Wetland with considerable conservation value and is a prominent landscape feature of the Town. The Friends of Lake Claremont group was established in 2003 to assist in the conservation and enhancement of the lake and have made considerable improvements to the health of the lake and it’s inhabitants.
The area is abundant with bird life, specifically between August and January with over 100 species of birds recorded. There is also a 2.5km loop trail surrounding the lake that can be accessed from many points via the surrounding local roads.
