Bold Park is one of the most underrated bushland reserves in the Perth urban area, and makes for a great trip out whether you are playing host to visitors, or just looking for a new weekend walking trail.

Declared an A-class reserve in 1998, Bold Park is the largest remaining bushland remnant in the urban area of the Swan Coastal Plain, covering 437 hectares near the coast.

Bold Park has an impressive biodiversity, with over 1,000 native and non-native species of flora, fauna and fungi identified. Over 300 different local native plants are found within the park boundaries, including a number of priority and regionally significant species. Despite its proximity to the city, there is an abundance of wildlife including birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

At 85m above sea level, Reabold Hill is the summit and offers sweeping views over the Indian Ocean, Perth and beyond to the Darling Scarp with glimpses of the Swan River. It also has 200m of elevated boardwalk incorporating interpretive signs, seating, artwork and 14 timber landings to take in the views.

Over 15 kilometres of walking and horse trails dissect this beautiful park and suit various fitness levels. The trails are quiet and you are likely to only pass the odd jogger or dog-walker, which makes this the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a busy week.

Bold Park also offers seasonal free guided walks which are led by volunteers who are local experts on the Park’s flora, fauna, geology and conservation projects.

Bold Park is located near one of Perth’s popular coastal beaches, City Beach, and easy to get to via Oceanic Drive or Perry Lakes Drive.
