Sharing Aboriginal culture and heritage
The suite of opportunities for guided tours in Western Australia to learn about Aboriginal culture continues to expand.
The most recent businesses to join the Discover Aboriginal Experiences program are Cape Cultural Tours in the Margaret River region and Narlijia Experiences operating from Broome in the Kimberley.
Cape Cultural Tours, based at Cape Naturaliste, are designed to create a deep connection and lasting memories through Aboriginal interpretive experiences along the spectacular coastline of the Margaret River region. This is an opportunity to see the Boodja (country) of the Wadandi people through their eyes and learn about the Noongar seasons and the connections with the rivers, sea, animals, fish and plants.
A walk along the breathtaking Cape to Cape track gives participants a deeper appreciation of the ecology.

The historic pearling town of Broome is revered for epic sunsets and magnificent beaches bounded by red pindan scrub but spending time with Yawuru man Bart Pigram is an opportunity to learn the story of its fascinating past and present. Bart shares generational knowledge and recounts ancient stories of the saltwater Yawuru people through fascinating daily tours or a cultural cruise of the Broome and Roebuck Bay region.
The Yawuru Nagulagun/Roebuck Bay Marine Park, established in 2016, is jointly managed by the Yawuru people and Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
Discover Aboriginal Experiences is a collective of authentic Aboriginal guided tourism offerings. It is part of Tourism Australia’s Signature Experiences of Australia Program that packages and promotes Australia’s outstanding tourism products.
