Further honour for Dr Richard Walley OAM
Congratulations to Dr Richard Walley OAM, who was named Western Australia’s Senior Australian of the Year 2021 for his enduring and passionate work in supporting and promoting Aboriginal culture and community.

Dr Richard Walley
Dr Walley, a Director of the WA Parks Foundation Board and a Parks  Ambassador, is a champion of Whadjuk and Noongar people. He shares his profound knowledge of language, cultural practices and historic injustices – cultivating a deeper respect and recognition of Aboriginal culture.
Dr Walley reinvigorated the practice of the modern-day Welcome to Country in Noongar Country. He sits on a number of committees and is a consultant to both government and corporate agencies where he is engaged to provide cultural advice for major projects.
His expertise is also sought by the private sector to provide Welcome to Country, undertake cultural awareness training and advise on Indigenous affairs.
As a musician, performer and artist he is creatively involved with many local festivals and events.
Dr Walley has received numerous honours including an Order of Australia, Honorary Doctorate, and WA Citizen of the Year. His contribution to the work of the WA Parks Foundation is appreciated and we are proud to have his involvement.
